His Eyes
Piercing eyes staring,
From a his favorite place,
Watching every movement,
Leaving you wondering.
His eyes sees the clues,
Hints that inform him,
Of comings and goings,
Of future walks, treats.
His eyes always communicating,
Looks that clue you in,
Eyes of hunger and want,
Eyes of joy and play.
Brown with specks of gold,
Big and round,
Always alert, watching,
Golden eyelashes glistening in the sunlight.
Expressive eyes that speak volumes,
Welcoming, loyal eyes,
Set in a face that is happy to see you,
With every return,
No matter the length of absence.
Eyes that can turn to sadness,
Expressing sorrow upon my departure,
Groaning as he slumps to the floor,
In his sanctuary away from all.
Where piercing eyes, once again,
Stare and watch every movement made,
Leaves you to wonder,
Of thoughts in his head.
Eyes of a loyal companion,
Friendly, trusting, and warm,
Eyes that are so observing,
Seeing all with a keen alertness,
His eyes peeking out,
From under doggie door flap,
Broken and old with age,
Revealing his sparkling brown eyes,
As he lays there thinking,
Of future endeavors to fulfill.
